Proctor-Silex 4-Slice Toaster Oven/Broiler - Black (31955)

Proctor-Silex 4-Slice Toaster Oven/Broiler - Black (31955) Customer Review: Excellent Cheap Toaster Oven! Very Happy!:)
I got my Proctor-Silex Black Toaster Oven 2 weeks ago. I've baked cookies and heated up links and lunch meat in it about 6 or 7 times. The cookies are a wonderful crispy texture. I had to adjust slightly the temperature (350 to 325), no biggy. I love the look, the size is compact, the black/silver matches my appliances and the price is unbeatable for the quality. I like that the door slides up and they even thought of a way to slide in reverse to clean the inside. I just love it!
Customer Review: Toaster/Oven Value Plus
I had a GE Toaster Oven for over 20 years that seemed indestructable. I researched new ones & decided on the Proctor Silex. It has some very nice features. It's compact (about the same size as the previous GE). The rounded front door has a full glass window which allows you to see everything inside. This window/door rolls up rather than out saving needed counter space in front. The interior has a non-stick finish with chrome wracks for easy cleaning. The warranty is for 2 years. This little Toaster/Oven bakes, broils, & toasts. The interior crumb tray & bake pan could be of better quality stainless (my only criticism). Other than that at the $40 price this one is a winner!

Customer Review: Basically pleased (though not ecstatic)
This is the Model 6293 Oster 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven. I state that up front, because there are a lot of reviewers here writing about clearly different models. When a person can't even correctly identify the item they have, the credibility of the entire review goes out the window. With that said, I'll attempt to provide what I consider to be reasonably accurate information based upon my experience with this appliance.

In deference to those who complain that their T/O exploded, went up in flames, or just stopped working, I truly sympathize. The fact is, though, that I have had mine just short of two years, with nary a problem. With regard to other complaints reviewers actually voiced, I'll offer my personal thoughts.

Hot on the outside? Hellooo . . . they all are! That must be why they have non-metallic handles. Pots and pans get hot, too, but you don't go grabbing one of those with bare hands, do you? Hot. Handles. Okay?

Complicated settings? C'mon, there are three simple dials - function, temperature and cook time. How difficult could they be to master? Oh, I see, they have to be turned. Well . . . oh, never mind.

Too lightweight? The thing weighs about 9 pounds, for crying out loud. Just how heavy does a toaster oven need to be? For the sake of stability, it does have four substantial rubber feet. So, regardless of weight, it's not gonna move around much.

Aluminum outer casing? Then why will a magnet stick to it?

Noisy convection fan? Sorry, I can barely hear mine running. The End.

Flimsy bake/broil pan? Yep, but that's not an issue unless you try to cook a 5 pound ham in it. A regular kitchen oven is far better suited to that purpose anyhow. Having said that, operator error did reduce mine to a puddle of molten aluminum when I inadvertantly set it on a hot cooktop burner. I just sucked it up and bought a better pan.

Pizza droops when baking? Well, probably not if it isn't hanging over the edges of the rack. Besides, that's what pizza crisping pans are for.

Short electrical cord? Yeah, I suppose that could present a countertop logistics problem to some. Not an issue for me, though, 'cause I got plenty of electrical outlets in all the right places. And, yes, they're GFI outlets . . . the ones that one reviewer didn't know could be reset.

Your parents had a fire in one of these? And they gave it to you?? And you use it??!!?? Umm . . . about that inheritance you were counting on . . .

Toasts bread only on one side? Try flipping the rack over so that it's centered in the oven. Trust me, you really can do that. It's not like the nails in the box that can only be used on the wall they point to. As a last resort, try the "Toast" settings on both the function and temperature dials. Uh huh, they're really there.

The crumb tray doesn't have a lip on it? Please look again. No, that's the wire cooking rack.

Here's an odd one - when removing the crumb tray, the crumbs catch on the heating elements and fall onto the bottom of the oven. Uh, there's one full inch of distance between the element and the tray. Literally, an un-split bagel would clear. Julia Child, you've got yourself a serious crumb problem!

You removed the door spring (why?) and you use a can to keep the door closed?? Aren't you the one who tossed a perfectly good strainer 'cause the water kept running out of it?

For my money, $59 to be exact, this is a pretty decent toaster oven. It looks good, it performs reasonbly well, and it still does both after nearly two years in my kitchen. My research indicates that these things are the second most polarizing of any kitchen appliance, at least in terms of user opinions . . . surpassed only by coffee grinders. Notwithstanding that fact, I side with those of you who are satisfied with this one.
Customer Review: A good buy!
Our Oster toaster oven arrived safely and on time. It performs very well, especially when cooking pizzas. We can cook a 12" pizza to perfection in 10 to 12 minutes. The price was good and we did not have to pay shipping charges.

Chicago Metallic Duncan Hines Toaster Oven Pan

Chicago Metallic Duncan Hines Toaster Oven Pan Customer Review: Just what I wanted!!
I have tried for six months to find replacement pans for my toaster oven. None of the stores in my town carried them. Then as I was looking for something else I found them on Amazon!!

As soon as the new ones arrived, the old ones went into the trash!! Thanks so much!
Customer Review: Nice little pan
I've used it a few times so far and it still looks perfect. So far, no sticking or rust problems. It cleans up easily. I wish it was a little bigger, but for the price, I like it. I'll eventually get another one.

Chicago Metallic Duncan Hines 2-Piece Toaster Oven Pan with Rack

Chicago Metallic Duncan Hines 2-Piece Toaster Oven Pan with Rack Customer Review: Very nice, but smaller than described
The Chicago Metallic Duncan Hines 2-Piece Toaster Oven Pan with Rack is a very good quality item. It's made of heavy gauge steel with a non-stick coating. Many pans of this type have a chrome wire rack that discolors over time and is difficult to clean. This rack appears to be made of the same non-stick coated steel as the pan. I haven't used it yet, so I can't attest to the durability of the pan/rack or the coating. I line my T/O pans with foil anyhow, so the coating isn't much of an issue. The pan itself, however, is far heavier/stronger than the flimsy aluminum one that came with my toaster oven (which I summarily melted by accidentally setting it on a hot cooktop burner!).

I was disappointed to find that this pan is not quite as large as the 10.2 x 7.2 inches shown in Amazon's product description. I could easily use an 11 x 9 pan in my toaster oven, so I bought this one believing that it would be larger than others I had found. But, due to the lip around the edges, this pan actually measures only 9 x 6 inches. Two slices of toast, or maybe (in a pinch) four english muffin halves are all it will hold. I rationalize that limitation, though, by concluding that the convection feature (air flow) of my T/O is probably more effective when using a pan slightly smaller than the rack it sits on.

Overall, I think this is a great product.
Customer Review: great pan
First let me say that I looked all over for this pan and couldn't find it. And then one day I just decided to look on the internet. All I did was google in toaster oven rack and Amazon came up with the pan immediately. I was so pleased because I never thought I would find that pan. And it was only $9.99! I immediately ordered it and it came in two days! I was very pleased. I have ordered many things from Amazon and am always pleased with their prices, their service, and their products.

Sensio 13143 Bella Cucina 4-Slice Toaster Oven Broiler Bella Cucina Toaster Oven Broiler Black - 13143///
Customer Review: $20 worth it.
Exactly what I needed. Inexpensive, fast toaster. Has bell to let you know when done.
Customer Review: Inexpensive, does a great job
I've been using this oven for almost two months now, and have absolutely no complaints. For twenty bucks I didn't expect much, and bought it to kinda hold me over till I find something 'better'. but it works just the same as my previous (MUCH more expensive!) Black & Decker oven, so perhaps I won't need anything 'better' after all...

Customer Review: Happy Toasting
I read your reviews before I purchased this item. I happen to like bread, bagels, etc. well done. Many of the reviews said that even on the lowest setting, the bread, etc. was too dark. I guess these people don't like toast because I like my bread dark and used the lowest setting and it is too light for me. So far I have been enjoying my new toaster oven. I especially like the compact design so it doesn't take up the whole counter. The only thing that I don't like is when we have a power outage, I have another clock to reset!!!!
Customer Review: Small, versatile, and nicely designed
I am really happy with this toaster oven.

Pros:

- Toasts, bakes and broils evenly

- Warms up quickly

- Includes broiler pan

- Nice looking

- Doesn't take up a lot of space

- Oven rack has two positions (high or low)

- Roomy inside (4 slices of pizza fit well)

- It has a clock

- Tray can sit on top of oven when you're not using it

Cons:

- Must toast at lowest level (T1) which is not the default (T4 is, and I've never used it)

- Can't set machine defaults

- Beeping noise oven makes when pressing buttons is unnecessary and kind of loud; no option to turn sound off

Cuisinart TOB-155 Toaster Oven, Stainless and Black

Cuisinart TOB-155 Toaster Oven, Stainless and Black Cooking shouldn't be a guessing game - this smart toaster oven uses its Exact Heat(tm) sensor to maintain precise oven temperature. Bake, broil and toast in brilliant stainless steel with a brushed chrome commercial-style handle. Three-year limited warranty. Model TOB-155.
Customer Review: a winner!
Having had a Delonghi, I wanted to try another brand. After doing some research, I settled on this Cuisinart. Since I have a double convection oven, this version was just fine. It's easy to figure out, toasts anything from bread to bagels very well and can also defrost without drying things out. I've cooked dinner in it a couple of times with excellent results (meats, fish and veggies) My only minor complaints are having to get used to Not touching the door itself when retrieving something out of there (that sucker's hot!), but that's what the handle is for. (you have to watch your knuckles, though -- not a big deal)...also, the crumb tray is only removable from the Back -- a little inconvenient, but when considering the whole, again, not a big deal in an otherwise a perfect toaster oven.
Customer Review: Cuisinart Toaster Oven (TOB-155)
I'm very happy with this oven. It's such an improvement over my old one. Everything cooks/toasts evenly and perfectly. Love the digital controls, too.

Customer Review: Really great toaster oven
There are times that you need to heat something up but a microwave isn't the best choice. This toaster oven has exceeded our expectations. My wife absolutely loves it. She has made corn bread, cookies, cooked bacon besides the expected toast. The convection part of the oven is great as well as the alternating top & bottom heating elements. It cooks evenly with this method. I highly recommend this item!!
Customer Review: BEST TOASTER OVEN. EVER!
I bought this because it was the only toaster oven with 3 heating fillaments on the top and bottom, all others I looked at only had two. I am SO glad I got this. I am amazed and delighted with the consistant and reliable results of this oven. It is head and shoulders above the Cuisinart toaster oven that it replaced (it has electrical issues) and looks great to boot!

Perfectly toasted cheese sandwiches, great baked casseroles, it fits a pizza, completely even heating, an easy to clean crumb tray, etc. It also has a relativly small footprint for how much space it offeres inside. It comes with toast tongs that I didn't pay much mind too, but we use them ALL the time and haven't had one singed finger removing items. There are MANY positve aspects to this machine. I am recently a convert to the Krups brand, I also have a Krups multi-cooker that we got as a wedding present -- it is AMAZING! I will definitly look at the Krups brand for future apliance purchases.

Customer Review: Reliable toaster
Before I purchased this unit I read as many reviews as I could.I have owned several toaster ovens in the past and each of them died before their time. They would either burn one side of the toast of leave one side untoasted.

This unit was selected because of a combination of a good reviews in consumers report and a fair price.

I like the unit and it does a good job of browning toast, baking small personal pizzas and rolls. The temperature settings seem to be fairly accurate.

The item arrived on time, was well packaged and in excellent condition.
Customer Review: Not worth it
This oven unfortunately does not work as a toaster, nor as an oven. Toasting is not even at all, leaves burn marks in certain areas and undertoasts in others. The oven is just too powerful for such a small space - I put something in to "heat up" and it ended up burning within less than one minute. I would not recommend this at all. I ended up returning it, and getting a different brand and model of toaster oven at a local dept store.

Customer Review: Good product
I have used this oven living on the ocean in Mexico for nearly five years in extremely humid conditions. The racks adjust and no rust except for the exterior of the unit. The convection feature makes a nearly perfect loaf of bread. You can bake a 9" pie. If you read the instructions and follow them it's a real winner.
Customer Review: Love it
Nothing bad to say about it yet. It warms, toast, and cooks my food. Easy to use, and looks good in my kitchen.

Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome

Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome Bake, broil, toast, defrost, and reheat your favorite foods with one sleek machine: this high-performance convection toaster oven from Cuisinart. A commanding presence, the black and brushed-chrome unit delivers precise control and offers numerous cooking methods. Cuisinart's Exact Heat Sensor lets you choose function and temperature, and then rely on the oven to tell you when food is ready. You can also choose to cook with the timer, according to your needs.

The convection option on the oven (which uses a fan to circulate heat for even temperatures and moist results) is great for everything from roast meats to chocolate cake. Conventional baking on this model works just like a full-sized oven, while the broiling feature lets you broil steaks and fish or brown the tops of casseroles. The oven is preprogrammed for simple toasting but accommodates customized settings for lighter or darker results, bagels or English muffins, or four to six slices at a time. The clean, strong structure of the oven is complemented by an easy-to-use control panel, with a clock that doubles as a function display. Helpful extras include a dual-position oven rack, a removable crumb tray, a "Temp Ready" indicator, a detailed instruction/recipe booklet, and comfortable side handles. --Emily Bedard
Customer Review: Best Baked Potatoes
I have only had the oven for a few days, but english muffins and toast come out perfectly toasted. I made baked russet potatoes using the convection method. I rubbed them with canola oil and cooked them at 400' for 45 minutes. They were the best I have ever had! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I can't wait to try more things.
Customer Review: Great Toaster Oven
After several attempts at buying run-of-the-mill toaster ovens made by Black & Decker, DeLonghi and others, we thought there was no hope of finding a quality toaster oven. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere and checking out Consumer Reports we "gambled" on buying the TOB-175BC. To our surprise, it not only is very well built with solid framework and door, but also has a substantial broiling pan assembly. It makes toast to near perfection and gets to temperature quickly. The controls are intuitive enough that my 8 year has no problem operating it. On the other hand, its numerous features, including convection, may be overkill, but do not detract from the simplicity of design and operation. A great buy.
